Holiday Concert at Freestone Park: Special Appearance by Santa! Participate in the Tree Lighting, enjoy singing by Dickens Carolers and a concert by Sherry Petta. FREE event.

Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Party: Lots of live music and planned activities for all ages. Food available to purchase. Countdown at 11pm and Balloon drop. McQueen Park Activity Center at 510 N. Horne St in Gilbert. Purchase tickets at the event for $5 per family or $2 per person.

Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo: Zoolights is open EVERY night from 6pm-10pm (even Dec. 24th and 25th!). 2.5 million lights!! This event lasts until Jan. 6th 2008. Las Noches de las Luminarias:5:30-9:30 p.m. Sundays, Thursdays through Saturdays, Nov. 23 - Dec. 23. More than 7,000 luminarias lining trails, buildings and courtyards at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix - 1201 N. Galvin Parkway. McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale: More than 100,000 lights will adorn trees and displays during McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s Holiday Lights event. Festivities kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 with a tree lighting, entertainment and a visit from a special guest — Santa! Holiday lights runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., through Saturday, Jan. 5, excluding Dec. 24, 25 and 31. Santa will be there nightly through Dec. 23. Becky — good idea for a blog. We always went to McCornick Railroad when I was a kid. We would pack up the blankets and a thermos of hot chocolate and make the “long” treck from Chandler to Scottsdale. Fantasitc memories are made of such things!
